Hey, y'all. I'm Wilfred Stephen Anfield, MPH, MSW.

Public health strategist, writer, and caregiver powered by joy. Based in Washington, D.C.

I think about health equity, the determinants of health (social, digital, and commercial), digital inclusion, accessibility, and participatory design. The thread through all of it: the lens is the problem, not the people.

What I'm working on

  • Writing Mason Jar Notes on aging and caregiving, algorithmic and data justice in health, community as expertise, and joy as a daily practice.

  • Building (trying to, at least 😬) an accessible, IndieWeb-native personal site with Eleventy, Sveltia CMS, microformats2, and webmentions, hosted on Cloudflare Pages. This is the GitHub that keeps it standing.

  • Thinking about care infrastructure, joy, and what it means to design with people, not for them.
