Drop ts-jest (which had issues with verbatimModuleSyntax/Node16 modules) in favor of vitest, which supports ESM and TypeScript natively with no transform configuration needed.
Replace yarn.lock with package-lock.json and update CI workflows to use npm ci/run. Drop Node 20 from CI matrix, add Node 24.
