As @wada3n has suggested, Varia should, at some point, support the more advanced settings that the aria2 backend makes possible. Right now there are some basic configuration options like setting the maximum speed and the authentication credentials, but just these are very inadequate for a complete download manager. These advanced settings include setting the split size, number of tries, amount of connections, and so on.
