Project Name: Neighborhood CompState Crime Viewer

Project Lead: Diana Flora, DPD

Project Manager: Jessica McInchak, DoIT

Executive Sponsors: Trisha Stein, DPD; Beth Niblock, DoIT

Problem Statement

Current tools are insufficient at analyzing and visualizing crime incidents in technologically-accessible, affordable and meaningful ways for community organizations and citizens.

Metrics of Success

  • Increase usability of DPD incidents data by citizens and community organizations through a self-service analysis and visualization tool
  • Decrease internal time spent responding to or fulfilling public data requests
  • Increase in satisfaction from former CrimeMapping users, indicating that the tool is faster, easier, and more accurate

Project Objective:

To create a tool that will enable community organizations and citizens to understand and stay informed about crime in their neighborhood. This web-based tool will allow citizens to dynamically visualize crimes across the City and be printable for Neighborhood CompStat Meetings.
