Cells with no output render as empty, padded divs in Voila

I am running the latest version of Voila (version 0.5.8) and I'm running into the same closed issue as mentioned here: #387

Cells with no output render as empty, but padded div's when I run my app with Voila. This results in a large white space above my app.
