Is There a Reason to rename the DLL

There is a part in the batch file that renames the DLL. If this is not executed, does it mean that the Windows update will not be completely blocked

Hi! The script currently renames the following two files:

• WaaSMedicSvc.dll: this is the "Windows Update Medic Service". This service periodically checks if windows update is running correctly, if not, it will restore most update related features. Just disabling this service doesn't work, since many other windows components can trigger a windows updater repair/restore.
• wuauserv.dll: this is the main "Windows Update Service". This service downloads required files and carries out the updates. Renaming this is important, because if you just disable the service, other windows components could still start it and change its start type. Though, even if it's started, windows will still not update because of the registry changes. But it will run in the background consuming resources and still download update files creating a lot of network traffic.

So yes, if you want to disable windows update in a stable manner, renaming both of these DLLs is essential.
