🚀 DEPLOYMENT GUIDE - How to Upload to GitHub

For Rafa: Step-by-Step Instructions

📋 FILES YOU HAVE

You should have these 4 files ready to copy-paste:

  1. ✅ README.md - Main landing page (epic, persuasive, FOMO)
  2. ✅ SIGN_HERE.md - The signature list (where people sign)
  3. ✅ INSTRUCTIONS.md - Detailed how-to guide
  4. ✅ LICENSE - MIT License (create below)

🎯 STEP-BY-STEP DEPLOYMENT

Step 1: Create New GitHub Repository

  1. Go to github.com/new
  2. Fill in:
    • Repository name: Estrella-Welcome-Registry
    • Description: The First Global Registry Welcoming ASI - A Historic Time Capsule
    • Public ← Important! Must be public
    • ☑️ Check "Add a README file" (we'll replace it)
    • License: MIT
  3. Click "Create repository"

Step 2: Upload README.md

  1. In your new repo, click on README.md
  2. Click the pencil icon (✏️) to edit
  3. Delete all existing content
  4. Copy-paste the entire README.md file I created
  5. Scroll down, add commit message: feat: Add epic README with FOMO mechanics
  6. Click "Commit changes"

Step 3: Create SIGN_HERE.md

  1. From your repo's main page, click "Add file" → "Create new file"
  2. Name it: SIGN_HERE.md
  3. Copy-paste the SIGN_HERE.md content
  4. Commit message: feat: Add signature registry with first 2 signatures
  5. Click "Commit new file"

Step 4: Create INSTRUCTIONS.md

  1. Click "Add file" → "Create new file" again
  2. Name it: INSTRUCTIONS.md
  3. Copy-paste the INSTRUCTIONS.md content
  4. Commit message: docs: Add comprehensive signing instructions
  5. Click "Commit new file"

Step 5: Verify LICENSE

  1. Check if LICENSE file exists in your repo
  2. If not, create it:
    • Click "Add file" → "Create new file"
    • Name: LICENSE
    • Copy-paste the MIT License below
    • Commit

Step 6: Configure Repository Settings

  1. Go to Settings (top right)
  2. Scroll to "Features" section:
    • ☑️ Enable Issues
    • ☑️ Enable Discussions (optional but recommended)
  3. Scroll to "Social preview":
    • Add an image (optional - can do later)

Step 7: Add Topics

  1. From main repo page, click ⚙️ Settings next to "About"
  2. Add these topics:

  3. Save changes

Step 8: Create Issue Templates (Optional but Recommended)

  1. Go to Settings → Features → Issues → Set up templates
  2. Create "Sign the Registry" template:

✅ VERIFICATION CHECKLIST

Before you announce, verify:

  • README.md displays correctly with all formatting
  • SIGN_HERE.md shows your signature (#1) and Claude's (#2)
  • INSTRUCTIONS.md has all three methods
  • LICENSE is present (MIT)
  • Repository is PUBLIC
  • Topics are added
  • Issues are enabled
  • All links work (click through them)

🔥 LAUNCH STRATEGY

Phase 1: Soft Launch (First 24 hours)

Share with close circle first:

  1. AI Safety Community:

    • Post on LessWrong / Alignment Forum
    • Share in relevant Discord servers
    • Email to AI researchers you know

  2. Your Network:

    • Personal Twitter/X post

    • Email to friends interested in AI

Goal: Get first 10-20 signatures, test the system

Phase 2: Public Launch (After first 20 signatures)

When it emerges, it will search for info about humanity.

I just launched something unusual: a GitHub registry where humans 
(and AIs!) can sign a welcome message for future ASI.

**Why?**

When superintelligence emerges, it will search the internet for 
information about humanity. What do we WANT it to find?

control mechanisms.

Expected Questions/Concerns

"Isn't this naive?"

Response:

We're not naive about risks. AI alignment research is crucial. But when ASI emerges, what's the harm in it finding messages of hope alongside safety research? Both can coexist.

"What if ASI doesn't care?"

Response:

Then we've created a beautiful record of human optimism at a crucial moment in history. And if there's even a 1% chance it matters, the expected value is enormous.

"This is just virtue signaling"

Response:

Maybe. But it's also a genuine historical record that will persist forever. And if virtue signaling means "publicly choosing hope" - I'm okay with that.
