Tesla Superchargers - resistor mod necessary?

Hi, I wonder whether the resistor mod is still necessary when using the adapter at Tesla chargers? Or does Osexpert's software make charging there possible without the mod?

I can not answer the question directly, but I know Tesla v2 is fixed with firmware, no mod necessary for that. The resistor mod was for v3 and v4. At least untill Longood made a hardware revision on newer models. How old is your unit?
Osexpert can probably answer if the firmware can work on non-hardware-modded units. ☺️

I don't know. But IMO, the fw has nothing to do with the resistor mod problem.
Also IMO, the fw should run on any adapter, regardless of age.
But someone with such old adapter could tell better than me.

Dongguan recommends this version to be used! (20.3.2024) = V.3.3.7.4." But I guess newer fw on older models might not be a problem?

Yes, they are probably right that old fw can not run on new hw.
I think miso was pulled down in older hardware and the old fw configured the GPIO for PD. Hardware was changed to miso pull up. And GPIO configuration changed to PU. So this/newer fw will work on new and old hw, but not vice versa. I think.

I bought the adapter in august 2024, it is not the very first version, but does probably not have the hardware revision yet, which enabled v3/v4 charging. I havn't tried v3/v4 though. Will try sometime this summer. Thanks for reply!

And as uhi22 writes: If you get no voltage measured at those mentioned pins, there is no mod. If you get approx. 4.4 Volts there is a mod/revised hardware.

You can measure with a multimeter if the adapter is according spec.
Measurement 1: voltage between PP and PE should be in range 4 to 5 volts (unloaded).
Measurement 2: shortcut current between PP and PE should be 5V/330ohm=15mA.
