Keycap Nail Art Workshop

Let's make your keycaps stylish and unique.

This workshop shows how to decorate transparent keycaps using gel nail materials.
Everything you need can be found at a 100-yen shop or local craft store.

Materials

Item Purpose Note
Transparent keycaps Base material Cherry MX compatible keycaps used in the workshop.
Base coat Undercoat For gel nail use.
Top coat Finishing coat For shine and protection.
Color gel Decoration Choose your favorite colors.
Nail stickers or small parts Decoration Small and cute parts available.
LED light Curing Mini LED nail lamp works great.
Tweezers For placing parts Handle with care.
Nail stanld Work base Place your keycap on it for stability.
Magnet (optional) Special effect Use with magnetic gels for depth and shimmer.

Steps

  1. Apply the base coat
    Apply a thin layer of base coat onto the transparent keycap.

  2. Cure under LED light (1–3 min)
    Use an LED nail lamp to harden the gel.

  3. Decorate freely
    Apply color gel, add stickers, or place small parts such as the Gopher sticker.

  4. Cure under LED light (1–3 min)
    Harden again after decorating.

  5. Apply the top coat
    Add a thin layer of top coat to give a shiny finish and protection.

  6. Cure under LED light (1–3 min)
    Final curing — and you’re done.

Tips

  • Avoid applying too thick layers; LED light might not reach the inside.
    Apply thin layers and cure multiple times for best results.
  • Before applying the top coat, gently remove any dust for a clean finish.
  • Use tweezers to place small parts accurately.
