Fail in manual syncronization

Hi @christianwach,
I tried to perform an individual synchronization of a specific membership, but it says there are no memberships to synchronize. I've seen WordPress users who should have these memberships, but they haven't been assigned the capabilities assigned to that specific membership—specifically, the capabilities assigned to civimember_1

In the manual synchronization tab, I've selected one membership at a time, I enter the 1 value in both, but even with the simulation enabled and disabled, it still says there are no memberships to synchronize.
However, if I open and save the membership in the civicrm account, it does assign the capabilities to the user's WordPress account.

Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

I checked the server logs, civicrm and WordPress in debug mode to see if it recorded any errors, but there's nothing.

UPDATE:
In my Civicrm system, memberships don't have consecutive IDs (1, 10, 12, 14, 18). So, I tested it by setting the synchronization range to start from the membership number I wanted to sync and to a higher number (1 to 2), and then it worked.
For me, I have the solution, but for people whose Civicrm membership IDs are consecutive (1, 2, 3, 4), I don't think setting it to only 1 or another unique ID will work.

I don't know if my problem is the same, but it seems that "From" and "To" does not accept Membership IDs. instead, they only accept numbers that aren't linked to the Membership ID, as described in the comment:

If so, enter the starting and ending Membership IDs to restrict the sync process.

@dragonjon Sorry for missing this issue. Glad you figured out that the IDs are those of the entries in the civicrm_membership table and not Membership Type IDs. TBH that UI element was a bit of a hack for a system that required a very slow sync process. Most people can safely ignore it - although the batch_count can be modified using the civi_wp_member_sync_get_batch_count filter if desired.

@masetto Hope the above helps explain the function of that UI element.

@christianwach I took a look at the code, and it seems to me that “From” and “To” aren’t “membership IDs,” but rather the query offset of the civicrm_membership table for contact_id ASC, status_id.is_current_member ASC, end_date ASC.

I think it would be very convenient (and consistent with the comment below these fields) if these were indeed membership IDs, and therefore if the memberships.get API had a where clause like civicrm_membership. id >= civi_wp_member_sync_manual_sync_from and civicrm_membership.id <= civi_wp_member_sync_manual_sync_to.

Am I seeing this correctly?

I took the original plugin and made some changes and modifications to suit my organization's needs. It might be useful to you too. I'm not a skilled programmer, but with help, I made these changes. Feel free to use it or publish it if you wish. I used it with WordPress 6.9.4 and Civcrm 5.82.1.

In this modified version, in the settings tab, I added a field to use for creating the username for manual synchronization. We use a specific field in our systems, and you can select it or leave the default value generated by the plugin.

I also created a selector so that if the plugin needs to be deactivated or deleted, its data can be retained in the user's profile.

In the association rules, I've made the edit and delete links visible; they were previously only visible on hover.

In manual synchronization, I've created a selector where you can choose to synchronize all memberships, one, or several.

@masetto Looking through it, yes, it looks that way. It's 5 years since I wrote that code, so my memory of it is kinda vague 🤔😄 I think yours is a good suggestion - would you have time to open a PR?

Initially, I only wanted to synchronize the membership IDs that I had configured separately and manually in the membership rules. One thing led to another, and in the end, a colleague and I made more changes. Anyway, we're not programmers; we work as system administrators for our organization and aren't qualified to program. I wouldn't even know how to create a pull request. If you find these modifications useful, you can add them with a diff command to see what has been changed and added. We tested them, and they work well, but I don't know if there are any bugs or errors; we're not experts.
