Release 0.10.0 - Ready for Testing! 🚀

Status: ✅ Code Complete, Ready for CentOS Stream 10 Testing

Step 1: Create Git Commit

Step 2: Tag the Release

# Create annotated tag
git tag -a v0.10.0 -m "Release v0.10.0 - Phase 2 Remote Desktop

Platform-aware remote desktop automation:
- RHEL 8/9: Production ready
- RHEL 10: Code ready (awaiting SELinux fix)
- Force flag for dev/test
- Complete gnome-remote-desktop automation

# Verify tag
git tag -n9 v0.10.0

Step 3: Push to Repository

# Push changes
git push origin main

# Push tag
git push origin v0.10.0

Step 4: Build Collection

# Build the collection tarball
ansible-galaxy collection build

# This creates:
# tosin2013-qubinode_kvmhost_setup_collection-0.10.0.tar.gz

Step 5: Test on CentOS Stream 10

Transfer the tarball to your CentOS Stream 10 machine and install:

# On CentOS Stream 10 machine:
ansible-galaxy collection install tosin2013-qubinode_kvmhost_setup_collection-0.10.0.tar.gz --force

# Run tests (see TESTING_INSTRUCTIONS.md)
cd ~/.ansible/collections/ansible_collections/tosin2013/qubinode_kvmhost_setup_collection/

# Test 1: Default behavior (should fail with clear error)
ansible-playbook tests/test-phase2-remote-desktop.yml

# Test 2: Force flag (should install)
# Create test playbook with force flag enabled

📋 Testing Checklist for CentOS Stream 10

Follow TESTING_INSTRUCTIONS.md and verify:

  • Test 1: Default behavior fails with security error ✅
  • Test 2: Force flag installs successfully ✅
  • Test 3: All components installed ✅
  • Test 4: RDP connection attempted (may fail due to SELinux) ⚠️
  • Test 5: Phase 2 test passes ✅

Expected on CentOS Stream 10 without SELinux fix:

  • ✅ OS detection works
  • ✅ Routing to RHEL 10 path works
  • ✅ SELinux check detects no fix
  • ✅ Default: Fails with clear error (correct!)
  • ✅ Force flag: Installs with warning
  • ⚠️ RDP connection may fail (SELinux denials)
  • ✅ All services running

🐛 Known Issues

  1. EPEL mirror issue on test Rocky 9 system (404 GPG signature)

    • Not related to Phase 2 code
    • Resolved with: dnf clean all && dnf makecache

  2. RHEL 10 RDP connections may fail due to BZ 2271661

    • Expected behavior until SELinux fix ships
    • Force flag allows installation for testing
    • Clear warnings provided
