Does this support text files in the web browser? I cannot get it to work.

I have a text file that I enter into my brave web browser. I have all the settings enabled including the access file urls. I don't know if this is possible or if I am just missing something. A google search said it should be possible but not working for me. Is there something special I need to do for yomitan to recognize my file and show the popups? For example an html format or does it just not work with files for some reason? Thanks!

There might be an option in browser settings to give the extension access to local file urls. It might not work though for some files.
I recommed using that subtitle with software like asbplayer, chimahon, manatan, which would allow you to hover the subtitles while watching
