Keybind conflict with TMUX in kitty?

Hi, forgive me if I'm in the wrong place. Just switching to JaKooLit's hyprland configs from ages on plain Gnome with Ubuntu. So far things on Ubuntu 2204 have gone smoothly! There are a few things I want to adjust and will do some learning, but I'm loving the experience so far --- except for the trouble with kitty and tmux below:

I have long used tmux with gnome-terminal (and some with wezterm), but I'm new to Kitty with this installation. In Gnome, I setup capslock to function as ctrl. In tmux, my "prefix" key is ctrl-s. In tmux I use tmux plugin manager (TPM), which installs plugins with ctrl-s then shift-i. This worked great.

After loading up hyprland and these dots, I'm unable to get hyprland/kitty/tmux to capture the TPM install keybind for tmux to function properly. Am I missing something, did the this dots setup clobber my tmux keys? I'm not really sure how to trace through where the keybind is getting stomped in this config.

Any guidance would be great!

We don't set any keybindings for kitty by default ~/.config/kitty/kitty.conf

I too use TMUX but don't have any issues with it. I come from using screen So I use CTRL + A

Interesting, thanks for the reply!

I'm used to binding the capslock to ctrl, and while I'd like to do that in hyprland, I'm just trying to use the real left-ctrl key. The sequence should be ctrl-s + shift-i to install tmux plugins with the plugin manager, but no dice so far.

IDK why it would not work for you. As you saw I have plugins w/o issue. Though ubuntu has a very old version of TMUX are you building it from source to get the latest version?

Actually, I think I've got it sorted. I thought I had the tmux plugin manager included as a submodule in my dots repo, but it wasn't. Had to manual install it, and then the bindings worked as expected.

Now time to go back and fix that issue with my dots.

As far as caps lock there are a lot of things you can do with that in Hyprland

Thanks, I found a reddit that indicated the setting kb_options=ctrl:nocaps which seems to work, not sure if that's the correct or proper way, but so-far-so-good.
