Hiking route at Fragas do Eume 🏞️

This year we'll do a special activity on Sunday 14th June, the day before the Web Engines Hackfest 2026. It'll consist in a guided hiking route at Fragas do Eume, a national park situated ~1h away from A Coruña.

There'll be a bus leaving from the hackfest's venue on Sunday afternoon (around 15:00 CEST) and coming back later in the day (around 20:30 CEST). Exact timetables to be announced.

The hiking route will be an easy one of around 2-3h through the forest and close to the river.

If you're planning to join us on this activity, please react to this issue with 👍. This will help us to have an estimation of the number of people for the bus.

The plan is to leave from Palexco on Sunday 14th at 15:30 CEST.

There'll be a bus leaving from there, and this would be more or less the plan for the day:

• 15:30-16:30: Bus trip
• 16:30-19:00: Hiking route
• 19:00-20:00: Bus trip

We still have room for more people, so please react accordingly or we might be looking into having a smaller bus and you might not fit if you show up in the last minute.

A couple Q regarding hike:

• What kind of trail are we talking (mostly thinking footwear)
• Any recommendations for important to bring -- e.g. bug spray?

There haven't been important rains recently, and are not expected in the next days, so the soil would be humid but not wet; the trail goes close to the Eume river.

It's going to be a hot day, maximum temperatures around 27°C (80°F), so bring water. Sun cream and a cap can be recommended too.
