@strayer that option was added for users with ultra-wide monitors. If they open a single window and it fills the entire screen, it can become excessively wide and harder to use. What you’re actually looking for is the setting above it, “Visible Columns.” Set this to 1 and any window you open will automatically use the full width. If you only want that behavior when a single window is open, but prefer multiple columns when you open more windows, then use the option you highlighted in the screenshot and select “None (fill)" |

I'm trying a scroller-based WM for the first time and have some trouble getting used to workspaces that only have one column. As far as I understand this part controls how single windows are sized:
My initial thought was that a single window should just be fullscreen, but that doesn't seem to be an option there. How is this supposed to work, usually? I'm open to changing my expectations and/or workflow.
