 <pre>Mehrangarh Fort covers an area of 1,200 acres (486 hectares) in Jodhpur,Rajasthan, India. The complex is located
on a hilltop around 122 metres above the surrounding plain,and was constructed c.1459 by Rajput ruler Rao Jodha,
though most of the existing structure is from the 17th century.Mehrangarh, the massive fort came first and
around the fort grew the city of Jodhpur protected by a high stone wall with seven gates Nagauri Gate,
Merati Gate, Sojati Gate, Jalori Gate, Siwanchi Gate and Chand Pol and countless bastions.

One of the largest forts in Rajasthan, it contains some of the finest palaces and preserves in its museum many price
less relics of Indian courtly life. For over five centuries Mehrangarh has been the headquarters of the senior branch
of Rajput clan known as the Rathores.</pre>
