can i use /seo audit localhost:3000 or I need to have their https domain name?

honestly it depends on what your trying to do
for basic stuff like checking title tags, meta descriptions, headings and internal links — yeah localhost:3000 should work fine, claude code can fetch it directly from your machine so that part is okay
but for things like google pagespeed, core web vitals, lighthouse checks etc — those wont work on localhost because google needs to actually reach your url from their servers and they obviously cant access your local machine
what i usually do is just run ngrok, its pretty simple
ngrok http 3000
it gives you a public https url like https://abc123.ngrok.io and you just paste that into the audit instead. works pretty well from what ive seen
staging urls from vercel or netlify also work if you already have that setup
so basically — localhost is fine for on-page stuff, but if you want the full audit with performance checks and all that you probably need a real public url. not 100% sure about every tool since they all work slightly different but thats the general idea
